Preservation of the environment is a key priority for Daikin. The management and staff of Daikin Europe N.V. commit itself to implementing the following principles:

1. All Daikin products, processes and services will meet at least the applicable regional, national and European legislation.
2. The necessary information and training will be given to the employees in order to obtain the objectives of this policy at any time.
3. Active measures will be taken for an efficient management of refrigerant and for stimulating the design and production of products with refrigerant which have a reduced environmental impact.
4. Taking into account the total life cycle, we strive to have the design of our products and processes in a way that the use of energy and resources is restricted to a minimum. The production of waste will be avoided, the waste and scrap will be recycled as much as possible and the packaging waste is controlled.
5. The environmental policy will be communicated in order it is well known by the hierarchy, the management and the employees and this has to be adjusted when necessary.
6. The management of this policy has to be evaluated periodically by checks and audits in order to continuously improve performances through continuous evaluation.

 

Daikin Europe Environmental Objectives

Top management’s commitment to protect the environment is reflected in the establishment and ongoing implementation of the following objectives:

1. Sustainable use of energy
Daikin Europe is constantly seeking ways to improve the energy performance of its production facilities and reduce its overall energy consumption.

2. Reduced environmental impact from refrigerants and improved energy efficiency of air conditioners
Daikin Europe is committed to using and promoting refrigerants that have a reduced environmental impact. It also optimally maintains and manages its installations for the storage and distribution of refrigerants in order to reduce fugitive emissions.

3. Increased product recycling and waste reduction
Daikin designs in recyclable materials at the product development phase making use of the principles of Lansink’s ladder. This concern for recycling and waste reduction continues through all phases of the product (production, transport and logistics, installation, maintenance ...), up to and including responsibly dealing with the product at the end of its useable life.

4. Management of polluting substances and preparations
Daikin strives for optimum safety with respect to the handling and storage of chemicals. This includes the continual search for newer and safer products to replace existing technologies.

5. Development of products with reduced environmental impact
Daikin invests heavily in eco-design. It is committed to compliance with all environmental legislation. In addition, its green procurement guidelines further ensure that its products are state of the art with respect to reduced environmental impact.

6. Continued efforts at European level
Daikin Europe continually adapts its environmental policy to the changing global, European and local legislative frameworks. It stimulates and promotes the strict application of all relevant European Directives, and formulates recommendations to facilitate local implementation.

7. To be a model of environmental responsibility
Daikin intends to be a model company by providing training and information on the environmental impact of its activities. It supports and dialogues with external organisations, its neighbours and the community at large, and is represented in working groups within the relevant industries.
