HRH Prince Philippe visits Daikin Europe N.V. in view of environment
On 16 October 2008, HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium honoured Daikin Europe N.V. with his presence at a forum on energy and sustainable development organised by Daikin Europe N.V. and afterwards viewed the latest in Daikin technology at Daikin’s D-Solution Plaza and its Energy Saving House.
Three debates closely followed
After a brief introduction to Daikin’s role with regard to energy and climate by Mr Inoue, three topics were debated, all closely followed by Prince Philippe. The first debate on energy and energy policy offered various expert views from industrial, academic and political circles on the crucial sustainable energy and energy supply issue, highlighting Daikin’s initiatives and clarifying the Belgian and EU approach to sustainable energy.
The second debate on sustainable developments for products detailed ongoing and future sustainable developments in the HVAC-R industry, with particular attention paid to HVAC in the passive house approach and to renewable energy in cooling.
The final debate, governmental initiatives to promote sustainable business in view of energy and environment focused on the need for good citizenship on the part of all users – large and small – in diminishing the burden on the environment.
From theory to practice: Daikin solutions in action
Following the debate, Prince Philippe and the other guests visited D-Solution Plaza, Daikin’s flagship showroom. The Prince was able to experience Daikin's award-winning products and technologies, and tomorrow’s sustainable HVAC-R solutions and technologies first hand.
The princely visit ended with a tour of the Daikin Energy Saving House: a typical residential house in which Daikin installs and tests its newest energy-efficient heating and comfort technology. Highlighted currently is Daikin Altherma, Daikin’s low temperature heat pump based heating system, delivering 4 times more heating energy than it consumes.
HRH Prince Philippe’s active presence at Dakin Europe’s forum was appreciated by all and underscored the importance of Daikin’s contribution to sustainable energy solutions for the future.
