Daikin extends Heat Pump Inverter chiller series

Daikin Europe’s new Heat Pump Inverter series is available in two versions – standard noise and low noise (6.5 dBA reduction) – with an extensive capacity range (cooling capacity from 250 to 580 kW) designed for a variety of commercial applications. The innovative units use inverter-driven single screw compressors, resulting in considerable savings in annual energy costs in both heating and cooling operations.
Inverter boost extends operating range
Unlike many competitor’s systems that lose heating capacity in colder temperatures – when it is needed most – Daikin’s extended EWYD-BZ series can fully match a building’s thermal load, even in ambient temperatures down to -12 oC. The inverter boosts the compressor to follow the required thermal load resulting in substantial energy and cost savings in heating mode compared to a traditional heat pump and gas boiler system.
This same benefit applies in cooling mode where inverter control again allows a boost in capacity when it is needed most in higher outdoor temperatures. Thus there is no need to oversize installations, adding to the significant cost savings offered by the new series.
Benefits
The EWYD-BZ units are energy efficient, both in cooling and heating modes, with good EER, ESEER and COP values. They are also designed for easy connection to Building Automation Systems and Management Systems.
Other major benefits of the heat pump include a partial heat recovery option, low current inrush when starting thanks to the use of inverters, an optimum unit power factor and optimised defrosting cycles. The unit uses R-134a refrigerant, the most efficient and environmentally-friendly refrigerant for screw compressors on the market.

The new series are ideal for commercial comfort cooling and/or heating applications in office buildings, shop complexes, hotels, …. Available in thirteen sizes between 250-580 kW, they can be combined to efficiently serve even the largest applications.
